Family Matters | Sleep Training
Sleep. The foundation for good mental, emotional and physical health. Yet for many new parents, a lack of sleep can leave us feeling exhausted and frazzled.
In this expert session, we’ll be looking at all things sleep related, with a particular focus on the age range of 6 months to 1 year.
Sleep for babies under 6 months can be highly variable. Short or unpredictable naps can be commonplace and waking up overnight for feeds is normal and often necessary. Babies of 6 months and older are usually capable of longer stretches of undisturbed sleep overnight and routines can fall into place around longer naps. When this doesn’t happen it can be disheartening and exhausting for parents. The good news however is that there are often some proactive steps that parents can take to help their child to sleep more soundly.
In this workshop, we’ll cover |
- What to expect from 6 months to 1 year
- Typical routines at 6 months, 8 months and 1 year
- Safe sleep
- The sleep environment and setting the scene for settled sleep
- Factors which influence overnight sleep and waking overnight
- Troubleshooting short naps
